Drywalling - Tools for the Job
Need to put some drywall up? Need tools? At Affordable Tools, we have everything you need for installing and finishing your drywall.
There are a few options on what tools you need, if you are on a tight budget you would be able to do the job with a few selected tools, but it might require a little more time and work. Simple items such as a razor knife, tape measure and some drywall knives for the drywall compound (putty).
There is a more advance set of tools we suggest that will make installing and finishing your drywall much easier. Included are drilling 
attachments that will set your drywall screws at the required depth in the drywall, Keyhole Saw (for cutting out spots for electrical outlets) and more.
Here's the basics of tools you need for completing your drywalling job. Some of the tools are basic things that most people would already have at home.
- Razor Knife - Also known as the box knife or the carpenters knife. Make sure you get one that has exchangeable blades and don't forget extra blades. Drywall dulls up the blades quickly.
- Tape Measure - The best type to get is one that measures at least 12ft long and has a wide blade which will allow easy measuring.
- Drywall Square - This is your basic drywall tool for cutting your drywall. You can use it to make straight cuts and be used for measuring.
- Drywall Mud Pan - This is a must when getting ready to mud your drywall.
- Drywall Knife - Also known as the putty knife. This flat knife is used for spreading the mud across the seams of the drywall. The do vary in size and we will help you select the best one for your job.
- Inside Corner Knife - Same as the putty knife mentioned above, but made specifically for mudding the corners of your drywall.
- Drywall Keyhole Saw - Can be called the "jab" saw. It looks like a kitchen knife, narrow and at least 6 inches in length and a pointed end so you can punch through the drywall to cut out your holes whether it's for light switches or electrical outlets.
- Sanding Blocks - These are a necessity. Available in different grits depending on the finish that you want. 150 grit is usually used. Don't forget the Corner sanding blocks for your inside corners.
- Drill - Just about any common drill can be used. There are attachments offered for some drills that will set the depth of the screws going into the drywall to prevent you from going to far in and breaking the paper. These attachments are very convenient and make the hanging process much easier.
- Dust Mask - These are an absolute must! These mask will protect you from breathing in all the plaster dust that's being created in the drywalling process.
