Finding Interior Wall Points

If you ever need to find an identical spot on two sides of a wall, here’s a great trick that only requires your bar magnet and your compass. Affix your bar magnet to the wall at the point you need to work on, with the north side pointing towards the wall. Go into the other room and scan the wall with your compass.

Compass needles are north seeking, so you will see the needle move away from the north facing magnet on the other side of the wall (This happens because like poles repel). Now you know exactly where the spot is you’re looking for!
