Tip #1: Clean Your Work Area
Before lifting anything with your hoist, make sure the location where you're using the hoist is secure and all precautions are observed. Lifting heavy objects can be harmful if you do not have the space to get out of the way in case of a fall.
Tip #2: Always Use Straps
One of the biggest mistakes that electric hoist owner will make is they don’t use a backup strapping system. If the chain breaks for any reason, having the strap there will ensure you have time to get out of the way or reposition the item back to the ground.
Tip #3: Using Strong Cables
Your Electric Hoist is only as good as its cables you put on it. Some hoist will come with cables that you can use but its better by working with stronger cables. Always make sure they are rated for the weight that you are going to be lifting with them.
Tip #4: Level It
It’s important to always keep your hoist level but even more, the items you are lifting need to stay level. It helps to always even the weight out so it sits in the center of the hoist. This will even out the force and prevents anything from tilting.
Tip #5: Help Your Hoist
Electric Hoist are great tools to life heavy objects however there can be times when helping your hoist will make the lift safer and prolong the life of the hoist. Using a jacks or leaving items in truck beds will reduce the amount of lifting the hoist will have to do by reducing the distance.
