Impact Sockets & Wrenches

Use Impact Sockets with Impact Wrenches

Higher torque is what impact wrenches were designed for. With up to 1000 ft pounds of pressure they can torque the bolts up or bust them loose. But most people use regular sockets with their impact wrenches which will affect the performance of the tool and it's a huge safety concern as well.

The biggest problem with using the regular sockets in the impact wrench is that it is not able to with stand the amount of torque and that can cause the socket to shatter, which would be a safety hazard. The reason for this is that standard sockets are made from chrome which is brittle and can split all over and the vibrations can make it shatter.

Impact sockets are specifically designed to be able to handle the torque and is flexible enough to work without failing or shattering. Chromoly Bdenum is a softer material which enables it to be more flexible and handle the vibrations. Impact sockets can still split with over excessive amounts of torque, they just wont shatter and send debris flying at you.

Using the wrong socket can actually wear out your impact wrench causing the anvil to split or get worn out. That can cost up to $150 to repair. Repairing a socket can cost up to $10, so make sure that your using the correct impact socket for your impact wrenches not only to save yourself some cash but keep yourself protected from flying debris.
